Blog #1

I interviewed four people of different ages. One was my Dad who is a middle aged adult. Another was my Mom who is also a middle aged adult. I interviewed Emily, an adult in her twenties. My final interviewee was Zach, an adult in his twenties who is also a college student. To answer the question of "What is 'media'?" I got very basic answers of Internet, radio, TV, news of any kind basically. Only Emily mentioned texting as a form of media and only my mom stated it was "the world's news to the public."

Answering the question of "How do the 'media' impact your life?"

My dad thought it was informational and educational, as well as entertaining. My mom thought it simply kept us up to date on the world's news. Emily also thought of it as finding news and keeping up to date. Zach thought it persuades him and shapes his values.

Answering the question of "Why 'media' is directed toward us?"

Dad thought it was a way to sell items, such as advertisements. Emily thought it was to keep us up to date on information while still forming our own opinions and bias. Mom was not entirely sure why, but thought it was more for profit and because we seek it out. Zach simply thought it was to persuade and inform us.

Answering the question of "What form of 'media' are you most influenced by and why?"

Dad replied TV and talk radio. Mostly because of its relevance to his life. Emily, like most twenty year olds, stated Internet because it is readily available, easy to navigate, and most updated. Mom, like Dad said radio because it mirrors her values. Zach, like Emily said Internet, because it is where most news is taken and is also informative.
